22nd Century San Francisco

22nd Century San Francisco

What will San Francisco look like a century from now?  The History Channel sponsored a “City of the Future” contest for architects to share their vision of Utopian cities in the year 2108.

The winner for the San Francisco version was IwamotoScott Architecture, which envisions the city using “Geothermal Mushroom” structures to extract heat and water from deep in the earth, and “Fog Flowers” to extract moisture from the city’s famous fog to grow algae, which would then be converted to hydrogen fuel to power hover cars.

I’m assuming those floating buildings on the hillside are earthquake-proof!
